Third Annual Pink Honor Walk
Fundraising event to benefit breast cancer patients in Clark and Champaign Counties

The third annual Pink Honor Walk is just around the corner. On September 27th Springfielders will gather for this fundraising event in which proceeds are used to assist breast cancer patients in Clark and Champaign Counties.
A variety of organizations tasked with the research and prevention of breast cancer, or which work to maintain the welfare of individuals who are affected by the disease have been selected as the beneficiaries of the event. One out of eight women, or approximately 13% of the female population in the U.S., will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in American women. Only cancers of the skin are more prevalent.
This year, beneficiaries of the Pink Honor Walk include the Breast Cancer Endowment Fund of Clark County, Inc., Sisters United for Prevention, Breast Friends Forever of Champaign County, and the Mercy Health Breast Patient Assistance Fund.
The Walk will begin at the Mercy Health Springfield Cancer Center, located at 148 West North Street in Springfield. Registration is $30 and is accessible online and available up to noon on the day of the event. The 1-mile walk/run begins promptly at 5:30 on September 27th, however the event at the Cancer Center will begin at 4:30. This will include a custom photo booth, a 50/50 drawing, and a raffle. Additionally, upon their completion of the single-mile stroll, participants are asked to gather at Mother Stewart’s Brewing Co. for an after party, conveniently located across the street. Those who sign up after 9/15 are not guaranteed a t-shirt.
