Newly engaged? Don’t miss the wedding show at the Bushnell Event Center
Engaged couples are invited to join Springfield-area wedding vendors for a day of inspiration, planning, and celebration – all under one roof.
The Bushnell Event Center is set to host its fourth annual wedding show next month. As the organizers put the finishing touches on the day’s lineup, excitement is already building for what promises to be a standout event for engaged couples and their wedding parties.
On the books for Feb. 21 — the Saturday after Valentine’s Day — the wedding show has become a beloved tradition in Springfield. The idea is to give couples the chance to connect with top-tier local vendors and experience the charm of the Bushnell’s historic ballroom.
Mac McClure, the event producer and owner of Mac McClure Photography and McClure Event Promotions, has been organizing bridal shows for more than 15 years and has partnered with the Bushnell show since the event’s inception.

“A lot of brides think they have to go to Dayton or Columbus to find top-quality vendors,” McClure says. “But the truth is, we have just as much talent here in Springfield. This show is about showcasing that talent and the beauty of the Bushnell Event Center.”
The event will feature approximately 30 vendors, including photographers, caterers, DJs, health and beauty experts, and more.
“The show is designed to be intimate,” McClure says. “We keep all the vendors in the ballroom so brides can spend more time with them without feeling overwhelmed. Most of the vendors return year after year because they book brides at the event.”
One of the highlights of the show is the “Bonus Bucks” drawing, slotted for 2:30 p.m.
“Every engaged couple and their guests who attend the show are entered into the drawing,” McClure explains. “We’ll have five winners, each receiving a $200 discount on the services of the vendor of their choice. It’s a great way to help couples save money while booking top-notch services.”
In addition to the drawing, attendees can enjoy exclusive show-only discounts from vendors, live harp music, and a complimentary glass of wine.
“We want this to be a fun and memorable experience,” McClure says. “It’s not just about planning a wedding — it’s about enjoying the process.”
Lisa Gayle Abshear, general manager of the Bushnell Event Center, emphasized the importance of creating a welcoming and supportive environment for couples.
“We’ve been hosting this show for a few years now, and it’s always a highlight of the season,” she says. “It’s a chance for couples to see what we can do for them and to meet trusted vendors who will make their wedding day perfect.”
Beyond vetting each vendor, Abshear’s dedication to her clients is evident in the intentional relationships she builds. Rachel Garland, a former bride who held her wedding at the Bushnell Event Center, spoke highly of her experience.
“Lisa is just amazing,” Garland says. “She’s so loving and caring, and she made sure my day was exactly how I wanted it. She was always there when I needed her, and she made me feel like I was the only bride that mattered.”
Garland, who got married at the Bushnell two years ago, has since become friends with Abshear and will be volunteering at this year’s show.
“Lisa and I have stayed close since my wedding,” Garland reflects. “She even offered one of the rooms for my baby shower. I just wanted to give back and help her with the show because she’s done so much for me.”

Garland’s wedding was a large affair, with 300 guests, and she credits Abshear and the Bushnell team for making the day seamless.
“We had four days to set up, have the wedding, and tear down,” Garland says, raving about the venue’s flexible arrangements. “Lisa was so accommodating, and everything went perfectly. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”
The wedding show is expected to draw between 150 and 200 attendees, with couples coming from Springfield, Columbus, Dayton, and beyond. No matter where they call home, Abshear hopes that attendees will give Springfield a serious look for their special day.
“You can’t beat the pricing here in Springfield,” Abshear says. “And our downtown has everything you need, from hotels to restaurants. It’s the perfect place to plan your wedding.”’Tickets for the event are $5, but couples who register in advance on Eventbrite can attend for free, along with their guests. Free parking is available in multiple locations near the venue.
