What’s happening: The 25th Annual Mercy Health Foundation Golf Classic returns to the Donald Ross Course at Springfield Country Club on Monday, July 21, 2025, to raise money to advance health and wellness in Springfield.

Proceeds from this year’s event will support expanded men’s health screenings and services, providing lifesaving early detection for common conditions like heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and mental health challenges.

What they’re saying: The Golf Classic has always been about community and this year, we’re taking that mission a step further by serving as a launch point for the health system’s campaign to help men own their health before it’s too late. It’s no secret that men are often reluctant to seek care until it’s urgent. This campaign is about flipping the script and making prevention the priority.” – Kristy Kohl McCready, President of the Mercy Health Foundation of Clark and Champaign Counties.

Why it matters: The Golf Classic also marks the official kickoff of a new, yearlong Men’s Health campaign for Mercy Health – Springfield, focused on helping men across the region take ownership of their mind, body, and spirit through proactive care.

Following the Golf Classic, the Men’s Health campaign will continue with educational events and health initiatives throughout the year, including the Own Your Game: Mercy Health – Springfield Men’s Health Expo on November 12, 2025, at the Springfield Marriott.

According to the press release, many of the major health risks men face can be prevented and treated with an early diagnosis, making these educational and health initiatives crucial for men’s health.
