Hatch New Media created this video to highlight the newest piece of public art in Downtown Springfield - a mural at
Mother Stewart's Brewing Company that honors the legacy of local jazz musician Johnny Lytle.
The brewery is hosting a
Johnny Lytle Mural Celebration starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, to celebrate the completion of the mural by local artist
Sush Kreates. Attendees can meet members of Johnny Lytle's family, meet the artist, and enjoy music by
Seefari Reggae.
The four-section mural - which started on one section of the wall about three years ago - is a fresh concept among Springfield's public art scene. The artist chose to combine an image of a local historic figure into a piece of artwork that includes interactive xylophones and elements that glow.
