Warder Park-Wayne Elementary Students Show Gratitude to Local Veterans

Students at Warder Park-Wayne Elementary School spent this week coloring dozens of cards for those who have served in the armed forces ahead of Veterans Day. After the cards are colored, they will be taken to local restaurants to be handed out to veterans as a sign of appreciation as they eat a holiday meal on Monday. This is an activity that is looked forward to by many WPW students.

Ms. Sheri Ehnie, who is the librarian at the school, started this project several years ago, demonstrating that a small act of kindness can have widespread impact. Ms. Ehnie has veterans in her family and wanted to teach students about the sacrifices that veterans have made, as well as why it is important to pay respect to veterans within the community.
