Victorian Springfield SoFo Walking Tour

On Saturday July 13, at 10am join Kevin Rose, former national president of the Victorian Society, for a guided tour of the SoFo neighborhood Bookwalter Home. Frank and Mary Bookwalter made a statement in 1875 with the construction of one of Ohio’s great wood houses at 257 South Fountain Avenue in Springfield, which was just on the heels of many cities banning the construction of wood homes. The home was never relocated but its address has changed to 611 South Fountain Avenue.  This grand house in the French Second Empire Style, or Mansard Style, designed by Ohio architect Franklin H. Penfield, is credited with transforming South Fountain Avenue (SoFo) into one of Springfield’s most fashionable addresses.

$15 General / $12 Members. Meet outside First Baptist Church, 638 South Fountain Avenue.
