Leadership Clark County Start '24/'25 Class with Amazing Race

Studies show that sharing novel experiences with others helps build strong psychological and emotional bonds which can last a lifetime. People who have strong bonds with each other, who also learn together and work toward a common goal, are more efficient and effective at achieving said common goal. If the goal is building up the skill sets of aspiring community leaders, the effect is amplified even more.

Such is the thinking behind "Amazing Race Day," Leadership Clark County's launch into the coming year for its new class.

The special event takes 4 months to prepare and over 40 volunteers are enlisted to support 10 teams, each comprised of CCL Academy cohort members.

As Leadership Clark County Executive Director Leigh Anne Lawrence describes the launch for the new class: "The Amazing Race is a fantastic opportunity for our new cohort to connect with each other while discovering interesting and fun facts about our community. This event is uniquely tailored to learning more about Springfield and Clark County and serves as a pivotal experience in the Leadership academy journey."

This year's Amazing Race will take place Thursday, September 12, 2024. Leadership Clark County is still recruiting support volunteers for the event.

As Lawrence says, "[Volunteering] is a wonderful way to support our new cohort as they embark on their Leadership Clark County journey. Amazing Race is an all-day event but with several time slots for volunteers to select shifts which suit them best."
