Art After Dark event to highlight Springfield Museum of Art

Looking for a fun and different date night idea? Envelope Date has you covered.
Envelope Date has partnered with the Springfield Museum of Art to host its first Art After Dark event at the museum at 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18.

The ticketed event is designed to be “a curated VIP couples’ experience,” and Envelope Date’s owner Ashten Houseman says she’s excited to tie in numerous local vendors through the event.

“There’s so many times where people from out of town will come to do something in Springfield or say something about Springfield, and until then you forget about all the cool places and things to explore,” Houseman says. “So, I really want people to kind of date their own city – I want people to explore all that Springfield has to offer.”

The $125 ticket per couple will include heavy hors d’oeuvres provided by a local caterer, a cash bar with a complimentary first round of drinks, and an art-making session led by a local artist.

The museum’s Executive Director Jessimi Jones will also lead couples on an exclusive after-hours gallery tour, and couples will receive a Swag Bag filled with samples and future discounts for a variety of artisans and businesses from Springfield and beyond, including Yellow Springs and Bellefontaine.

“The response has been overwhelming,” she says. “This really feels like something our city wanted and just no one had tried it yet.”

Houseman says she'd like to host other Date After Dark nights in different places in the future.

“Depending on how successful this is, we definitely want to collaborate to do more of these seasonally," she says. "It’s definitely something we want to continue to do.”

Details about Art After Dark can be found in the Facebook event, and tickets are still available for advance purchase here.
