Clark County Land Bank showcases new affordable homes
The Clark County Land Bank invited community members to tour newly constructed affordable homes on East Liberty Street.
The Clark County Land Reutilization Corporation (Land Bank) recently announced the opening of four newly-built single-family homes on East Liberty Street. These homes are part of the Affordable Homes Program, which allows families that align with or are below 300% of the Federal Poverty Guideline the opportunity to purchase an affordable, newly constructed home.
Last week, the Land Reutilization Corporation invited community members, including relators and interested purchasers, to come see the houses and learn more about the program.
“This is the next step we take in returning blighted, vacant, and abandoned property back to a productive use,” says Land Bank Executive Director Ethan Harris. “It’s exciting to be building where demolitions had once occurred. We are happy to welcome everyone to come see the houses and kick off the growth of this program.”
The four homes on East Liberty Street range from 1,198 to 1,264 square feet, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. They also feature a driveway for off-street parking and a front porch.
“I’m proud to see this partnership bringing hope and opportunity to Springfield families,” says City of Springfield Mayor Rob Rue. “These new homes mark more than just construction — they represent progress and stability for our community.”
Dedicated funding from The Board of Clark County Commissioners and The City of Springfield Commissioners from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), Clark County Land Reutilization Corporation supports this program.
Applications are now open to gauge interest and eligibility, and as residential homes are completed, more site-specific applications will become available.
Interested home buyers must meet qualifications and are encouraged to contact the Clark County Land Bank to learn more about home options and the eligibility criteria. Down payment assistance may also be available to those who qualify. According to the press release, the Land Bank is willing to work directly with buyers or with realtors representing buyers.
