Global Impact STEM Academy opens new $16.9 million facility in Springfield
"Now that Phase I of the expansion project is complete, we’re excited to welcome more students into a learning environment that’s immersive, hands-on and focused on preparing them for real-world success – whether that’s in the workforce or in higher education.”
On Friday, Global Impact STEM Academy celebrated the completion of its new $16.945 million expansion project. Located on Clark State College’s Leffel Lane campus, the Upper Academy facility will welcome 10th- and 12th-grade students in August of 2025.
According to the press release, the new state-of-the-art building will allow the school to serve more seventh and eighth-grade students, and add sixth graders to the school’s other location, the Springfield Center of Innovation: The Dome.
“Bringing this project to life has been years in the making, and it reflects the dedication and shared vision of everyone involved,” says Joshua Jennings, superintendent and founding director of Global Impact. “Now that Phase I of the expansion project is complete, we’re excited to welcome more students into a learning environment that’s immersive, hands-on and focused on preparing them for real-world success – whether that’s in the workforce or in higher education.”
Partners on this project included Marker Construction, WSA Studio, Clark State College, New Carlisle Federal Savings Bank, and West Central Ohio Port Authority, as well as additional investment partners.
Global Impact STEM Academy serves more than 600 students, with a focus on career-readiness in fields such as food and agriculture, environmental studies, healthcare, and energy. The academy’s curriculum emphasizes real-world, hands-on projects.
